Danica's Gymnastics Dream Come True!

On Sunday, June 20, 8-year-old Danica Murray’s dream to attend a gymnastics camp came true at the International Gymnastics Camp in Stroudsburg, VA.

Danica was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis in 2003 and is currently undergoing treatment at Florida Pediatric Pulmonology Center.

Danica spent a week at the 100-acre camp facility, created exclusively for gymnasts.   While at camp, Danica received five full days of intense gymnastics training and recreational activities, such as dance classes, workouts, and ropes and climbing course exercises. She also met alumni of the camp that have competed in the Olympics.

Danica’s parents enrolled her in gymnastics classes when she was 2-years old, coinciding with the time she was diagnosed and when her parents learned that exercise is particularly important for lung development in cystic fibrosis patients.

During a gymnastics meet a few years ago, Danica had the opportunity to meet Soviet gymnast and Olympic Gold Medalist, Svetlana Boginskaya. From this introduction, Danica decided that her dream was to attend the best gymnastics camp in the country to fine-tune her skills in hopes to one day compete like her new role model.
A special thanks to 'Girls Night to Give' who raised funds by hosting a special shopping night to sponsor Danica's dream!
